About the treatment
Bellafill contains bovine collagen and non-absorbable PMMA microspheres. It is used for nasolabial folds and certain moderate to severe atrophic, distensible cheek acne scars in adults over 21.

What to expect
A skin allergy test is required before treatment. Its lasting component makes careful selection especially important; it cannot be dissolved like a hyaluronic acid filler.

Suitability and important considerations
Possible effects include tenderness, swelling, bruising, infection and lumps. Rare injection into a blood vessel can cause tissue damage, blindness or stroke. Sudden unusual pain, skin color changes or visual symptoms require urgent medical attention. Suitability depends on the product, treatment area and medical history. Bovine collagen allergy, a positive skin test and a tendency to excessive scarring are important exclusions.
