Kybella is a prescription deoxycholic acid injection for moderate to severe fullness associated with fat beneath the chin in adults. It is not a weight-loss treatment or a treatment for loose skin.

What to expect
A medical provider first checks whether fat is the cause of the fullness. Treatment may involve several sessions. Swelling can be noticeable and should be considered when planning appointments.

Risks include pain, swelling, bruising, numbness, swallowing difficulty and nerve injury that can cause an uneven smile. Skin injury and infection can occur. Use outside the approved under-chin area is not established as safe and effective.
